If your dealer got rid of everything "not made in USA"
right now...the walls and ever place you looked would
be bare except for a solitary motorcycle. time to get real.

Who gives a sh*t, Numerous small harley dealers sell 2 or 3 other brands, only way they can pay the rent.

I don't think that the MoCo has anything to do with it. There are a number of multi line Dealers out there. One I visited had HD/Buell/Victory/BMW/Yamaha and Honda all under one roof. All the staff wore HD shirts.

Harley only states to be an American company which they are. Only the Union label on the bike has a made in America label which means assembled.

My Local HD dealer also owns a Victory & Honda store 5 miles away from the HD store. He just closed the Victory-Honda store & is moving the stock to the newer HD store. I think you will see alot of dealers doing this just trying to survive.

Kent's Harley-Davidson in Abilene, Tx has been selling Hondas for as long as I can remember, and added Suzuki at least 20 years ago.

it's like harley is the last thing we can hold onto for "made in the USA" pride and that's great, but it's an ideal that is long gone. Nothing wrong with harley branching out to remain competitive in the market so we can all keep riding these great motorcycles.

babalu, you need to read the second statement which CS04 wrote. Sorry to burst your bubble...

CW04, your opinion will count only when you speak for every customer that walks thru the doors of a dealership. If a prospective customer never gets near a Harley dealership because they don't believe they can afford a Harley, they probably will never even consider a Harley. Having something they can afford draw them into the dealership gives the sales people an opportunity to change their mind...

The MoCo has already proven their expertise in the use of marketing strategies. I'd have to believe they know more about what brings customers thru the door than either of you, or I do...

Well, it looks like I'm in the minority about thinking "Buy American" is an important sales pitch for HD. Not too suprising as the general public has never caught on to "Buy American" for anything else. Too bad, it would help in this recession.

and Harley's "buy american" marketing is now biting them since less and less of a HD is now made here.
If Harley came out with a new buy american campaign, they'd be insinuating you should buy a Victory
