Well done, leg problem or not..
The correct way is to mount and also dismount a harley is to the RIGHT HAND SIDE.. ok before other people dissagree, please try this for a few times, you will be surprised especially with a tourer..
I had previously used the left side as it was lower and cycologically (?spelling) it seemed the right choice as the left was closer to the ground, but as i tried the right a couple of times, I found it so easy to do it the correct way. Well its like lifting a big heavy tourer from the side stand with the bars facing twoards the left (normal park position), well just try moving the bars to the right, a bit of the straight position and gently lift the bottom back left of the tank with your left hand while slightly pressing on the right handlebar. wow watch how easily it rises..

I am Riding harleys since 1995 and I now have a 2011 cvo road glide ultra AND I am only 5 ft 2 inches, no problems, Moscow, USA, Africa etc,.
I hope this was a bit of help to some people as this is my first post on this forum, although this forum has been of great benefit to me for years..

The bikes already leaning that way.

A horse only cares because it's taught to...I always liked my horse to prefer to do things my way, and I sure ain't takin' no backtalk from my bike over it.

It depends on where you put the gas cap. Why would you dismount on the right walk around the bike and put the gas cap on the left side of the bike. Just don't make no sense.

On an unrelated topic, how many clicks do you put on your gas cap when you put it back on?

I thought I had this all figured out when this thread died, but now I find out that I am all confused again. But, I shouldn't be, now that The Mounting Professor has given me the downlow.

When filling my left tank, should I stand on the left side of the bike and then go around to fill the right tank?

If I am sober I mount from the left because it feel natural for me. If I am drunk as a skunk I do whatever comes naturally I may do cartwheels I may trip on it it and roll around before getting settled. Basically all best are off if I am drunk and or probably on drugs.

Just kidding!!! I never mount my bike sober. Had you guys going huh?

I have seen this question before and it really baffles me. I honestly don't see how mounting from the left or the right really makes a difference as long as the person is comfortable and stable. Then again I have never taken an MSF because I can't be bothered to be sober long enough to take the course.

I can't wait to read through this thread and see how many have really strong opinions on this. Arguing over how someone else gets on their bike will be very special and priceless indeed.

Funny thing. I keep mine in my jacket pocket, so sometimes when we stop and go in for a refreshment, I peel off my jacket and throw it across the seat of my bike. Anyone could just come along, put on my jacket, and since it's a keyless fob, just ride away. Not too bright on my part.

The only proper side to mount and dismount your bike from is the one you feel most comfortable with, period. If you do it differently than me don't tell me i'm doing it wrong, you $hit-pump.

cheers
