Why did you buy a HD instead of a metric

i liek to tinker, no matter how dirty or oily i still get hey man thats a cool bike, when asked by women "what do you drive" you can almost see the moisture starting to show in there pants when you say " i ride a harley". and finally if i bought a metric my family members would strip it down and start beating me with the pieces

I like retro stuff. First I got a Sportster then a Road King. I like the bike but have to admit I'm thinking of a sport touring bike. Yeah it's not retro I know. I may not have my RK for much longer.....

two reasons one to ride with my old man and spend time with him which we do a LOT of
and two because after riding rockets for the last 8 years every time i saw a night train... i got all excited to know that there was a bike created just for my tastes.....and apparently for a lot of others too LOL
the ICON thing is kick a$$ also

'Cause ever since I was a little kid I knew Harleys were badass. I'd watch the large groups of bikers riding down the highway and thought it was super cool, and even as a little kid, I knew they weren't riding Japanese bikes.

I have a dyna low rider. I like the way it looks, everything is neat, clean and functional, there is nothing weird hanging off it (except that decorative part on the handle bar riser, that's a little cheap). The size is right for me, it fits. I really object to plastic parts on a bike, fenders, engine covers, headlight housing. Droopy turn signals turn me off. So do visable tank welding flanges. I think Harley is getting a little cheap here and there, at least in the dyna line, but the metrics are worse. The Harley dealership is convenient and pleasant and of course there is always stuff to buy if you want. Any vehicle can get you from point A to point B, that's not what it's about. There's just a whole fun factor riding these things, and even if some of the fun is Harley marketing and image spinning, that doesn't make it any less fun for me.
