Default opening a can of worms

forgive my ignorance, please.

is there something taboo about asking someone if theyre in a motorcycle club, or what club they belong to? im not asking this to stir up trouble, im asking this specifically so i *dont* stir up trouble if it is, in fact, a biker no-no. if it is some unwritten biker code that i somehow missed, id rather get chewed out here than somewhere less forgiving.

thanks in advance.

disclaimers:
i am not associated with any club/ridergroup
im not looking to prospect
i dont care/mind if you are in a club
im not saying or implying that clubs are good or bad or yellow with pink polka dots

Club members wear their colors so there shouldn't be a need to ask.

I was a member of the Blue Knights for about 10 years, but I let my membership expire, my wife and I just don't like riding in groups, we do an odd chairty run now and then and their fun, but we really don't have time for the club scene with work and all. We do strongly support BACA,and Viet Nam Veterans of America

Are you talking about asking someone at church, or out on a ride somewhere? If they are wearing colors then I say they are, if they are wearing a suit I would not even bring it up unless it was part of a conversation.

It's usually pretty obvious. I've never seen a club that didn't wear their patches on their backs. If you see someone that looks like their in a club; you don't have to ask.

It's OK to ask, but don't keep asking question after question...

I imagine there are MC folks on here but on here for the purpose of checking things out only, club biz is club biz and not to be talked about outside the MC.
