Harley v Victory?

Just returned from a full day last week at the motorcycle show in the NEC / Birmingham (UK) and was very dissapointed that H-D had no stand at the show but Victory did and I have to say I was very impressed to see their bikes as I had never seen their range before "in the flesh" as there is no distributors in Ireland and I believe there is only 3/4 now in the UK - Having just purshcsed a FAtbob for delivery in the Spring I have to say that the Victory are fantastic value for money and the build quality seems to be good. Now before anybody has a go at me I am not Harley bashing here at all but could H-D finally have a comeptitor that offers a simular range at a more competitive price? Has anybody had or driven one of these bikes?
I hope Victorys are good, after all they're made by us Yanks!
BUT, they are fairly new motorcycles, have as you noted a sparse dealer network, and because they are new I'm not sure how reliable the engines etc will prove to be over time. Harley has spent a lot of time and $$$ developing the Evo and now the Twin cam, and they have proven themselves. The other parts of the bikes have largely done so as well. I think the Victorys are a good product, but will have to prove themselves before I'd try one. Maybe someone with a lot of miles can tell us his/her experiences.

Is there any currently produced air-cooled twin that, in a given comparable displacement (883cc, 1200cc, or 1584cc), is less powerful than a Harley?

I've got a feeling that the Victory Cross bikes, because they are a new release, will take a while to be accepted by the true die hards. Nothing wrong with that
I think the more we see of these this spring / summer the more they might grow on us. I know we would like one as an "alternate"
