Last July I wold my 2010 wide glide and bought a new Victory high ball. The bike looked cool and ran like a raped ape. About a month ago I final got a dealer to fix an engineering problem under warranty (Ask if interested) and sold it. I found an 07 wide glide for a good price and I'm never going back. I hope you can feel my anger from here.
By all means share it with us.

Crap. I've got to read this stuff before I post it. "I sold my 2010 wide glide." is what I mean to say.

For the 2011 model year Vic changed their compensator assembly to make it easier to get it into neutral and some other benefits (their opinion). The problem was that their tolerance stack up was terrible and a LOT of the rattled VERY loudly when idling in neutral. Half way through the 2012 model year they changed back to the pre-2011 compensator assembly. Mine had the noisy one in it. It was loud enough that I had people ask me if I was going to make it home at stoplights.

I guesss I lucked out.Almost 4k mi. on my '11 Vision before winterizing last Nov. and no appreciable noise.Victory is replacing the compensator and a couple of belville washers under warranty for the noisey ones.Easy fix for an annoyance but not catastrophic. At least Harley fixed the cam chain adjusters in '07 so you shouldn't have to worry about that on your Wide Glide but you might want to check the crank run out before too long.

I've already got my eye on it. Thanx ahead.

didn't know they had switched back to the old tranny setup. That was one thing I didn't like about mine (although it did give it character). She sounded like a piece of farm equipment/lawn tractor cruising along at 35 in 3rd or so.
I'd like to see Vic do more work on their transmissions, as it seems it's been a prob for them from the very beginning of the company

I just put a bunch of miles on BIL's '02 and talked to couple of people that work on them in INDY shops.
Harley mechanics like them. Tranny noices are no worse than anything coming out of the harley motor.
If your game is " I can spend more money than you on stupid, shiny ****", than harley is your bike ...
If you just wanna leave the bike alone and ride 100K miles, Victory deserves a second look.
My BIL put 38K trouble free miles on his '02 in 5 years. He works 3 miles from the house, so its all cruising and touring miles. Not my style bike, but I like it a lot.

well, I was referring to the 99's and the 00's trannys. a lot of people wanted to file a class action suit against Vic because they wouldn't do anything about them.

To the best of my knowledge all of those transmissions were fixed under warranty. I know mine was on the 99' and that bike is still on the road with over 100k miles, current owner has not reported any problems. - Gene
