I think it's ok to kid about doing it but to actually ride without foot protection you gotta be pretty nuts. I'll keep my boots thank you.

They are fine to wear but only if you're wearing a jock strap too.

I suppose riding with or without a helmet is a personal choice of weighing the risks/benefits of doing either.

Given the fact that you DO plan to have contact with the ground, brakes and gearshift (if your bike is so equipped), I would consider not wearing sturdy footwear STUPID. Especially, when a case could be made that it may make you less safe as far as controlling your vehicle in traffic, thus endangering others - that's called "irresponsible" (stupid).

If you DO plan to use your face or head to support the weight of you, your bike, and maybe a passenger, I would definitely say not wearing a helmet would be stupid.

At least please do try to consider others. You are supposed to be sharing the road, right?

Why do we all give credence to these stupid posts? At first I thought he was being fecious but I don't know anymore. I do think that helmet questions should be locked on this forum from now on, there are too many and we all know what the opinions are. Do a simple search and I bet you would get a thousand threads.
