I had a similar experience like truckerdave's. My second Harley was a mostly 81 Sportster. I got a real good deal on her and I had been without a bike for a WHOLE YEAR at the time! So I was STOKED! Only thing was... she was purple!! Oh well, i knew a guy who knew a guy who would lay a couple coats of black on her for a couple cases of beer, so no biggie. I rode her away and the first place I stopped was a friends house for his birthday party. Well sir, I pulled up on that shiny purple thing and the girls went nuts. They LOVED the color. Can i have a ride? Anyway, the bike stayed purple for the next 10 years.

 

This is funny , my first Harley I bought five years ago , a 1999
883 c sportster , can't tell you the exact color but she's a dark
metallic purple , just bought her because I loved the way she
sat , I was concerned about the color but have not heard one
thing bad from anyone .

What the F_ _ _ is wrong with purple? I happen to like purple if it's tastefully done.

Picked up a ratty 74 FXE. A week later, it was HUGE metalflake candy "burple". Other than The Cap'n, I'd have to say it was the best 2 wheel chick magnet I've owned.

Sure if it was purple. Not a purple that wants to be a blue sometime and at other times a black or some of the other things H-D is doing with their purple the last few years.
