Bred to bite cattle on their heels (to herd them around)...hence the term 'heelers'....they have a real sense of territory. I've known heelers that regard their owner's truck as their territory....stick your hand inside the truck, and lose it. But outside the truck they can be meek as pussycats.
They're a mix of pitbull, dingos, and what have you. Very intelligent...show one how to unlatch a gate, and they'll do it on their own. Look into their eyes, and you know you're not looking at a chihuahua brain. Smart effing dogs. Cows learn real quick that a look from a heeler means business.

Have a jack russell here and the kids wiemer both females... worse than two kids together! Seperate they are just fine....

They're real good with the grandkids though (my daughter has another heeler from the same litter)...though they will herd them around to keep them out of trouble. Sum'bitches have blindsided me, and knocked me off my feet though....sneaky, powerful, and fast. F*kers will grin at you.

OL set 5 frozen chicken breasts on the counter one day, turned her back for 2 seconds with grace behind her and then there were 4!!
