Death to Chaps
#12
I never thought of chaps as adding to safety? In riding suits and leathers the knees are armored and the seat area has added protection. Chaps that I've seen don't have knee padding, or seat coverage at all. I guess they could be helpful though. I agree they are more comfortable than many other options.

I somewhat agree with the OP. women+chaps=YES!!! Usually...
Dudes on road couches with full fairings and lowers and heated seats, not a yes.
Anybody else on stripped down scoots, I got no problem.
Now then, let's get this moved to the showdown section and....
I'll admit, they do look good on women - but on old geezers who ride baggers, not so much. I hereby declare an end to chaps. Harley is struggling, it needs to attract a younger buyer. You dudes in chaps are scaring them away.
Hey junior, Harley don't need kids who are more worried about how they look then about dressing for the ride. Old Geezer my stinking butt, boy-o!

To the original poster, "you ride and wear what you want and I'll ride and wear what I want. I don't question why you would be such a dumbass to not dress warmly on a cold or wet day."
Personally, I find most of the people who question what others wear or ride, more concerned about image than enjoyment. Get over it. Do you really think people give a damn about what you look like as you pass by with everything else going on in their lives?

I used to ride the dirt trails around Cochise Stonghold, AZ and I could see a pair of chaps coming in handy riding through the catus and prickly brushes there. Still, not my style.
A buddy of mine wears chaps..I'm just glad he wears pants underneath 'em.
