I have always considered folks that "throw sticks" at deer, bear, fish, etc, to be slightly 'touched'. And YOU can take that however you like, Ranger.
Meaning 'blessed' or 'scued'.

BTW, my brother and nephews out in SoDak, hunt pheasants, gophers and prairie dogs with 'sticks'. AND they are SUCCESSFUL.
