How many out of work?

Man I feel bad for you guys. I didnt' believe all the downsayers until Christmastime talking to relatives who faced a downturn in business. Fortunately for me my area hasn't seen much of a downturn yet. But I am sure it will be coming.
Hopefully, something can turn this around.

construction is bad here in Jersey also. the future looks very bleak,
especially for guys like me "white profesional construction worker" types,
had a great year last year. I'am sure there others out there in worse off
condition than me. just gotta keep plugin along tho.

Manager working for the phone company here in Boston. Dodged a layoff in Nov and again in Jan. Another coming in Feb and March. Can't dodge the bullet for long. It's only a matter of time for me. Sucks working under these conditions, waiting to be called in.
Advice...Stay in the UNION!!

I have my job still and I've been here for 26 years next month. Bad thing I have'nt gotten a raise since 2001. As of Jan. 1 this year we took a 11 1/2% pay cut. I work for an a$$hole. Since this jerk bought this company we have'nt gotten anything but empty promises. I tried to get a job at Honda but could'nt get in. With this economy I'm stuck where I'm at. My workplace used to be owned by Kimberly-Clark and it was a great place to work at then. Now it sucks. Sorry...had to vent.

Got laid off as an assistant country club manager last July because the boss wants to head to " a different direction"...Been in the business for the last 26 years but former boss and I never really got along, one has to go and of course it's me.That was when I bought my Sporster and really begin to live life again...I am now enjoying time with my wife and grandaughter and I now realize what is really important in my life... i.d. Riding..LOL!! Hoping to get back working very soon..

I have been self-employed for 36 years....I'm a finish carpenter/cabinet maker/installer....I moved to PA about a year ago, from NC....the Hispanics have RUINED the construction trades in the south (as far as I am concerned)...actually found some good work since I been here....First of Dec...it was like turning off a switch....I have worked about 10 days since the first of Dec....I WAS planning a 95" build this winter.....the way the economy looks....I won't get to do the build next winter....
