Just my luck!
Back in March of last year, I bought a $500 HD gift certificate for $100 at a charity golf tourney, with the anticipation that I would get my first HD for my 50th birthday.
I did get that bike, but forgot I had the certificate. I found it while cleaning out my glove compartment the other day, it expired Dec 31st!
I took it to my dealer today to see if they would honor, no surprise, they shot me down.
I guess I can pass this off to a senior moment, although I don't know if I qualify for that yet!

Go find the owner of the dealership and tell him you bought it for charity...if he blows you off call your local TV station. It will make great PR for the local dealer.

I had a buddy who got one for a christmas present and forgot about it, he gave it to me after it had expired, I took it to my local dealer and they honored it. The have some flexibility even though they dont want you to know it.

You did not mention if the certificate was the same dealer where you bought the bike?
That could make a world of difference.
Did you only talk to counter person or the manager/owner?
HD dealers/owners are hurting now too, but would not want to lose a new buyer without at least making some type of deal.
Try again.

You might talk to the manager and say that you had put it aside and forgot about it during the holidays then when you remember it had just expired. (just an idea?)

If they stand firm, maybe they'll wiggle and honor if you tell them you'll buy $500, they just need to match it. just an idea, but they should honor it regardless, because of short length of expired date and charity...IMHO
