Full-Face Helmet Wearers - Opinions Please

Thanks to all those, who responded here so far. Many of you mentioned fit, which I also think is important. However, I think the helmets here in Japan are made for the Japanese head. We Americans have an egg-shaped crown, while the Japanese have a circular crown. For this reason, I have to wear an XL helmet for it to be comfortable, otherwise I feel pressure on the front and back of my head. But then, with the XL, I have play from side to side, since our heads and faces are narrower. They may just be padded differently, but for me to get the best fit, I may have to wait until I go back to the states, one of these days, get a good-fitting helmet and bring it back with me. My current helmet is a 3/4 HD, made by Shoei. It is an XL and I have to pull the chin strap fairly tight in order for it not to move from side to side. It's comfortable enough for long rides, but I'm ever on the lookout for at better fitting helmet. I didn't try on the above helmet, because the test helmet they had out was an M. I may go back today and see if they have another size to try on.

I have a HD half, a Shoei and an Arai. After years with the Shoei, I went with the Arai because it just fits better. You can get a lesser priced Arai or Shoei...depending on what features and graphics you want.

I wear Shoei because they fit better on me then the Arais do. As far as pricey, yup, but my grape is one place I spare no expense.
The $300 for my RF1000 was worth every penny, and this is 6 years later (I think).

If you have to pull the chin strap tightly to keep it moving from side to side, then the helmet doesn't fit. A properly fitted helmet should fit snugly front/back and side/side, not one or the other. You need to go to a store that carries various brands and try them all on. For example, although pricey, Arai makes helmets with different shaped internals. Oval, round oval, round etc. I wear an Arai Profile, which is longer and narrower than most. It fits like a glove. I also have an AGV which fits similarly. Most other helmets have pressure points on the front and back (assuming it fits properly side to side). That's how I ended up with Arai and AGV. If you've never worn a good fitting helmet, you'll be surprised how much more comfortable (and usually quieter) a properly fitted helmet is.

Cool looking graphics on that one. I own a Shoei and really like it. Once I figured out what I wanted and the right size I was able to buy one on Ebay and saved about $100 over the local shop for the same helmet.

6 years is a long time for a helmet, unless you don't wear it much. Helmets oughta be replaced every 5 years or so.
