nice helmet.... but before you shell out the cash for a Shoei, or any other brand... try to find one similar to try on... because neither heads, nor helmets are one size fits all.... round,oval, square heads, fit different brand helmets. According to a advert from Arai the dealerships are supposed to help you adjut the helmets fit, by trying on different removal pads.... best advice I've ever gotten at a dealership was
"helmets? they're over on that far wall"
never a word about fittment OR comfort

 

I have a shoei, the only thing about them that I don't like is the way the price escalates with the addition of the factory graphics. Ohh and the way the HD dealer looks at you when you come in carrying a shoei helmet bag.

 

Nice helmet, would wear it. However I only wear helmets for winter wear layer. Bought a very nice HD with graphics in excellent condition on good ol'ebay.

 

That's a great looking helmet and I'm sure worth the money to many, including my son, but since getting in a head-on collision with a car back in 1973 I trust my head and my money to Bell Helmets.

 

Good looking helmet, but fit is key. I have three myself, a Nolan modular, a KBC 3/4, and a HD carbon fiber 1/2. I wear the half the most and the modular when it is cold. The modular and the 3/4 have mics in them for when my wife and I hit the road and want to use the intercom.

Shoei makes a great helmet. Personally I'd get carbon fiber.

 

Got three Arais and a Nolan

Personal choice Id always get an Arai - only got the Nolan as Arai dont do a flip front.

Arai dealer I use fits the helmet to you and yes its very important

Other thing to consider if you have a tourer you'll need space inside helmet for earpieces
Arais and Nolans accomodate these well

 

Cool helmet. If it fits & you like buy it. Shoei makes a great helmet - I have a one of their full face helmets.

 

To echo what others have said, fitment is key. I have a few buddies who worked for the Arai rep who used to service the AMA paddock during superbike weekends. They estimate that 50% of the average Joe's out there are wearing the wrong size helmet. I thought I knew what I was doing as well until I was properly fitted a few years back and found out I was wearing a size too large. I just needed thinner cheek pads in the next size down.
