Trust me, you do.

Oh I do, but is there any real way to tell which is best? There is no telling if the $400 helmet barely meets the standard is there? Could it all be clever marketing and lots of extra pretty colors making it cost more? The possibilites work both ways...

I have an HD 1/2 helmet and wear it all the time. Think that helmets save lives under 50mph.. over that well, it lets you have an open casket funeral.

25 dollar helmet. I paid over 30 for mine. Does that still make me cheap? Seriously though, if you shop around on line, you can get some of the same helmets the dealers sell for half price. My helmets are DOT HCI 1/2 helmets for about 30 bucks.

I'm no genius but what the hell difference does it make what helmet I wear? I know this is a forum for commenting and free speech but it seems an awful lot of these threads are why do you/he/she do this or wear that. Seems like giant b!tch session. I worry bout me and my family not what the hell everyone else is doin. Sorry for the rant and yes I know I can leave or not read the threads but stop and look for a few, you'll see, maybe it's just me.

Yes but the bike helmet protects the one that generally does all the thinking.

Maybe it's like the individual that goes up to the fast food counter and orders all sorts of food that is anything but healthy. Then , that same individual orders a diet coke to go along with it. What's the point in questioning their choice, it's there's to make as long as that choice doesn't impact others in a negative way. In this case the person ordering the diet coke and the person with the $25 helmet have no impact on anyone but themselves.
