Are you a "Biker"

Am I a biker?
Well, if you mean did I just buy a new harley, new leathers, a bandana, a new tattoo, ride in weekend charlty events (Every Saturday) and act like a badass..the answer is no. I am not a biker.
But, I did stay at a Holiday Inn express once, 1500 miles away with my Bike parked in the lot (Sans Trailer).
I like motorcycles. Wish I was a biker.

This is what I got most from the article...
"Real bikers are all members of a kinship with no concern for status or
wealth. Instead, they have a "Live and Let Live" philosophy, while still
watching each others' backs."

I feel your pain. I think its to be expected, pretty cyclical with the influx of new posters. I haven't been here long but it seems like this topic makes its way back here every 3-4 maybe 5 months.
I find it a great topic and never tire of it. Why? Well over my years of riding I have seen riders who for some reason feel that riding a bike and particularly an HD adds to their fear factor. Or makes them a different person who they really are. I can't figure out if thats a good thing or a bad thing or a thing where the individual let themselves get caught up in a moment?
The coolest motorcycle riders I have met and particularly on a HD have been riders who seem to be interwoven into the fabric of what they do. EZ going laid back until you got their attention. Not too many like that out there.
One of the most destructive riders I have known was a quiet unassuming give the shirt of his back guy. (His name was Rags). Until 2 non rider locals mistook him for a easy target because of his perceived laid back non threatening manner. They were wrong, both of them. He kicked both their asses up one side of the bar and down the other with the grace and stealth of a defcon 1 panther on a rehearsed meat raid. Where did that come from. He really freaked me out. I always respected and admired how he carried himself. Never lost his cool, always was the voice of reason. Last I heard from him was he rode off into the sun set with a big bag of blow. Hope he's happy.
