This one cracks me up every time. Good story though. Even with that I'm still a poser that likes dressing the part and hanging around bikers....whoever they really are.

In Milwaukee the image of "a biker" has done a complete 180 in the last 30 years. I remember a time when if too many biker's showned up at a festival in a park there was always trouble and the cops were'nt far behind. The motorcycle clubs were notoriously bad and it was best to keep a safe distance from the whole scene.

Now, during the summer just about every outdoor event has cycle parking right up front. If there is trouble it is never the bikers that caused it. The city has become very biker friendly and with the opening of the Harley Museum, Milwaukee is trying to make itself a place to ride, tour or fly to. How things have changed.

I read the entire article, and it took me back some years. Got me to thinking about what a real biker is. I qualify, after 40+ years of riding, and 100's of 1000's of miles, I even feel like a real biker. But my family comes first, my wife, my children, and those in need. I can't tell you how many times I've stopped to help someone, on a bike or in a van. I received the nicest Christmas card from a guy I pulled over to help south of Butte, MT a couple of years ago on my way to Sturgis. His words "I'm still amazed that a biker would pull over to help a guy in a stupid old mini-van"... I laughed and got him on his way. He sent me a $25 gift cert just to say "Thanks"... Everybody can use a helping hand some time. We can all be ambassadors for the bike community. It only takes a couple of minutes, and it can make lasting impressions and changes to peoples lives. Ride safe out there bikers, one and all.

I'm a "motorcycle enthusiast"

I read on WWW.whogivesafluk.com "Real Bikers" were extinct.

(Don't know if it passed the Snoopes test and don't care.)

My best friend rides a Honda, and I value his friendship more than the kind of bike he rides. We both ride, so we're both bikers. we even ride in the winter!

I am a biker sometimes. When I'm with my club, riding or not. When I ride alone, I don't care what I might or might not be. I'm riding, that's what matters. This sort of question can't really be answered. It's up to the individual to identify with that term 'biker'. If you are, you are. If you're not, you're not.
