Yeah, I think the OP got his proof that he was lookinig for. (as well as the debate that he was looking for).

 

Had a sweet little old lady around 28 talking on her cell phone putting on lipstick while changing the radio drinking a starbucks coffee.She was driving.
She comes right into me makes eye contact and keeps coming .I woke her out of her dream and the starbucks was all over her.Without my pipes i'd be part of the guard rail.No one hears quiet .

 

I wonder what that horn button does. Every time I push mine, it just makes a loud noise.

 

Whatever. It's really hard to prove this either way, pro or con. My pipes are only a bit louder than factory with my slipons, and I have no idea if they help people notice me or not. What they are really good for though, is for pulling up next to the dingbat on the phone that just pulled into my lane in front of me without signaling. I pull up beside him at the light, and keep the revs up high enough that he can't hear his phone.

 

I keep telling you, when I push mine, I just get a left turn signal!

 

Someone should make a horn that sounds like loud pipes!

Exactly what I was thinking.

 

It ain't loud pipes, bright colors, horns, flashing head lights, goofy tail lights or air bags or any of that stuff that will save your life on your motorcycle.
In fact if you are counting on any of those items to prevent you from getting creamed on your scoot you are risking the very life you intend to save.
Your ability to ride and your complete awareness of you and your surroundings and the idiots that are out there that will kill you because of their ineptness is what will save your life.
BE AWARE! and know how to handle a bike in the event of...............

 

I've owned and ridden both quiet and loud,when I had quiet,I can't count the number of times I had cars move over and squeeze me against the curb,had NEVER happened with loud pipes,but then,I know now to stay out of the blind spot,so that might do it as well.Try to prove the running with your headlight on helps,yet that had been legislated in most localities,and consequently,you can't turn the headlight off on modern motorcycles.
