BTW, I have seen videos of single bike wrecks happining. Sure they were being stoopid...but, bottom line....those going fast hardly ever hit there head until they slowed down....

Got a couple of friends who have been hit while they were riding. They both said they hit the ground so fast they had NO TIME to put thier arms around thier heads, and they both said they were going to start wearing lids.
are you saying that that was their plan? they were just gonna put their arms up to protect the head in an accident ?
dude, you got smart friends !

why would they even mention that?
I've been down many times ... few on the street a bunch on the race track, but the thought of "putting up my arms to protect my head" has NEVER entered my mind

When those of you have said that your dealer says in regards to your particular issue of your bike that "THEY ALL DO THAT" when the dealer does not know what to say.

This May during my accident that left me with 8 broken bones, I was not sporting a helmet... I used my arm to protect my face and broke my elbow in the process.

It is instinct to protect your noggin. Thou, a helmet would have been better!

I have TRASHED a couple of helmets on the track and can't even imagine what my face would look like if I wasn't wearing one ....
One was a fairly slow (60-70mph?) lowside. I was completely fine sliding down the track in my leathers till I got off into the dirt and started tumbling. Blue-green-blue-brown-blue ....when I stopped tumbling I couldn't see out of the face shield. It was that gouged-up.
The other good one was when I woke in the bus after someone "took my wheel" mid corner. I got cut out of my leathers with a broken clavicle and couple of ribs. The side of my helmet was ground down to the styrofoam. I'm sure I wouldn't be here to tell this if it wasn't for the bucket.
