Default How much gas is really left in the hose at the gas station

Odds are, the gas that is in the hose at the gas station is not the gas that you want. That part is technically correct. This video explains why it really does not matter to most of us. Not enough gas in the hose to make a difference, and has a neglibile effect on octane dilution. The math checks out.

I get a few shakes on the nozzle to help ensure that it isn't going to dribble fuel all over my tank, but I don't look at it as any kind of cost-saving measure.
Anyone thinking the pump is ripping them off isn't realizing that the same amount of fuel in the hose that they didn't get, was there in the hose when they started pumping - that the previous guy left in the hose...
As long as air isn't introduced in the line, then the amount of fuel that passes through the hose to the tank is unaffected.

I'd be more concerned about leaving my gas cap on top the pump and riding off

Just squeeze the handle and as you're looking down the hose to see, light a match to give you some extra light to see down the hose.

The UK user doesn't have to suffer such perplexing problems as each fuel has its own pump and hose.

Pump a cup on the ground first, then the next question is what kind of oil should I use.

I have friends that will wiggle the bike, put in a little more, wiggle, a little more. I have done this to see how much more I am actually getting into the "6 gallon" tanks on my 2019 FLHTP. The added .15 gallons is simply not worth the time and effort.

I already knew about the remaining fuel in the hose.
