I replace them when they are worn out, which has, so far, been well before they would get too old. I have bought used bikes with five year old tires. Those I replace before riding, even if the tread is still good.

I replace when the the tread is down to the wear indicators. Or if there is any type of damage to the tire prior to that (nail/screw/cracks/dry rot/etc). I always hit mileage before age but would never ride on a tire more than 5 years old.

Hi,
I have a social riding group here in west valley Phoenix. 14 in the group. over many years as riders replace their tires here is some info.
Because Arizona is so MF hot, tires don't live as long. Our general rule is no more than 5 years. And depending on the riding, many change at around 17K miles.

Good Day~

So instead of making a new one.... So my OEM scortchers had 6300 miles and down to 2/32 R and 3/32 F in the center. I decided to put some cruistecs on.... Holy ****.

I read they are tippy, they want to turn in... I don't think that's it... It feels like I lost a good 5 degrees of rake. So far in my time on the LRST, I have felt like I have to muscle turns. It's a LRST but it's still big and heavy... But now it actually feels agile, nimble. Total trip. Can't wait to get them broke in and see how good the grip is.

So what tire pressure are you guys running? I'm not weighted down and I'm only 190. I started at normal pressure for now from the manual, but just curious if anyone is similar.

I used to change tires when they wore out, but in the last 5 or 6 years I've not been riding as much as I used to, so I'm not wearing tires out any more.

I guess I would change them if they were down to the wear bars, or if they are more than 7 years old. I know most say 5 years, but that has been proven to be overkill.

Some manufacturers say a tire is good for 10 years.

Edit- I typically run 35 psi up front and 38- 40 psi in the rear.

I replace tires at 6 years regardless of wear. At the pace I ride my Street Glide, I expect the tires to last less than half that. My Dyna gets ridden a few thousand miles a year and the tires will probably age out before they're done.

I replace them when they're worn out or almost worn out. Depends on if I have a long ride planned, or if one tire is at the wear limit and the other is close, I change both. As far as tire age, use your best judgement. If the tread is good, there are no cracks, and they've been in the garage out of the sun, they're fine. You should inspect your tires frequently regardless.
