TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge part XIV.
#6611
It started when I walked into the office and go to set my gear down on the small table, about 3 ft. dia, with folding ears, I had brought in for that purpose. It was gone. The shop area just outside my office was painted over the weekend and **** was moved everywhere. But there was no reason for that to be moved. In its place was a rolling shelf unit. I'm standing there: WTF???
I go looking. It's nowhere to be found. As I walked up the parking lot, I noticed the shop truck bed was full of crap so I got a flashlight and looked; nope.
Went out back to the dumpster, and shined the light in: nope.
So I get busy, and our source inspector from SpaceX shows up to do a pre-outside process inspection. A guy we've been working with a couple years now. Okay guy, pretty easy to work with. But every time, and I mean EVERY effing time he comes up with some new "requirement" or "rule" that we should be following.
Bad timing on his part to pull that **** this morning.
The rest of the crew starts showing up and the Owner-to-be does as well. Eventually he called me out of the office and somewhat explained what happened with the table and apologized and promised to make it right. The person responsible would be in and make amends as well.
I already knew who it was, even though no one told me.
My office partner, Mike, even asked the guy when he showed up and the guy denied having anything to do with it to Mike. There wouldn't be anyone else in the place that would pull stupid **** like this.
Then a new part was brought in. 30" long, 20" wide and full of holes that all have to be measured. Then another, and another.
The big part took about 2 hours to check, meanwhile, the other guys are waiting, Mike and Cody, my other partner, are busy trying to keep the source guy in line. And that eventually fell apart. SpaceX has their head up their ***.
Turned into a Catch-22 situation that who knows how long will take to get squared away. And the parts are due next week. And they have to go to Chicago for plating.
Big part is OK dimensionally but looks like death taking a ****, so I give him a qualified OK to run, but fix the visuals. This is a SpaceX piece as well.
Next part, another SpaceX part we've run numerous times is barely in tolerance, I ask him to make adjustments. Get push back. Tell him in no uncertain terms I'll shut the job down and we can talk to the owner if he wants.
Finally, the perpetrator of destruction of the table shows up after lunch time, which I didn't take cuz I was too busy playing catch up, to make his apology.
Which I accepted somewhat gracefully after asking him if he gets his jollies by destroying others people's property.
Then "Super" struts in at 2:15 with his latest accomplishment after dicking around all day as is his M.O. Says he needs it checked for 1st thing in the morning. I just laughed at him. I leave at 2:30 normally.
And of course, the part is covered with sharp edges and burrs cuz he's too good to beburr his own work. So I'm not sure when it will get checked tomorrow.
That's the long sad story. Unfortunately, I don't have big sad eyes to go along with it.

Told ya!
Now there’s a wall of text for ya! Looks even worse on my iPad. Can only imagine what it looks like on a phone.

Stan, you ready for a bunch of white stuff? I'm holding on to the expectation that it's going to miss me, but if just hoping doesn't work, at least the new carb for the Toro last week works fine.
