Mike, we ended up getting a Netgear Nighthawk mesh wifi system. Works great for spreading the signal throughout the home.
I've run across the term "mesh" but hadn't checked it out. Sounds like a good solution, with the base hard wired to the router, doesn't matter if the router has poor wifi, if I'm understanding this correctly. 3 unit ordered, will see how it works. I'll try it with one remote first, test out how much range it actually has in her house. If one remote handles it, I'll use the second one next to the tv to run an ethernet cable to it, might be more reliable than using the wifi on the tv. Seems weird the tv shows a strong signal from two of her neighbors, would have to be near 100' to the nearest possible one - 2 garage widths and the space between houses at a minimum, but can't even connect to hers.
Comcast is way behind on internet service, minimum, which Carol has, is 20mb/sec. I have Spectrum (formerly Charter) and minimum is 300. Audrey (daughter) has Comcast, and they won't even give just internet, have to buy a package with stuff they don't use. She's stuck with it, she and husband need gigabit service for their businesses and that's the only way they can get it. I wonder if they really need gigabit service, most they do at once is kids streaming 2 or 3 tv's, zooming with a few employees, and husband playing games on Steam. Hmm, maybe...
