I've got 3 teeth that need pulled. I've been avoiding the dentist

Sounds like judo or Muay Thai. Hard on the body. We don't focus on take downs. Too much risk of injury.

Is the electrical tape a progress report as the student moves through each segment?

Yes. 3 month, 3 month, 6 month, 6 month.. year and a half till blue but also depends on uptake of basic knowledge of moves and counter moves.
