Pretty crazy. 50s and 60s till Friday evening when it's supposed to start snowing! Gonna get weather whiplash!

Yeah, it sounds like a diesel motor. From the interwebs experts I've heard it can be anything from "It's a Jeep thing", leave it be, to lifter noise, to broken piston skirts. The latter is what I was looking for. I didn't find any chunks in the pan, and the three I could see looked good. So I don't think that's it, which is a relief I guess. But now I have to keep hunting.

I would check those cam lobes.

I think some of their issues were cams and lifter failures.

Check for flat spots, lifters jumping lobes mebbe!

The hemis had a cam/lifter problem if you let them idle excessively. I don't know much about the 3.6 other than I'm not impressed
