My 1200 sportster wasn't the worst battery location I've seen, but still such a miserable install I got a longer cable so I could re-route it for a fairly simple battery change. It's an easy change on my Electra Glide, but unfortunately from what I've seen, that's not always the case for Harleys.

Forgot to mention yesterday it stalled on me as I was about to leave after a cold start.
Below around 25 degrees my sportster won't even cough. My cold weather bike is a Russian Ural, it fires right up below zero. One ride around zero and I decided it was fun to see it start that cold, but not to ride. Minnesota started salting incredibly heavy some years back, even pre-salts now if there's expected snow, so salt free days in winter are non existent, no more winter riding even with 3 wheels. And that was fun...

I have to admit, my Electra Glide with EFI will start fine in cold weather, unlike the carbed Harleys I've had. Still like carbs, though.

Black Betty is a pain in the cold. Blackie might as well be fuel injection

We've had highway construction going on in Lansing all year long. Seems like for what they are doing, they should have been done couple months ago. But it's still going on today!! They also redid the RR crossing near my home. Took them over a month to do that rework. Once they opened it back up, it was worse than before!! It was only open 3 days and they closed down again to repair their repairs! This time it was only a couple weeks. So much better now....
Sometimes wonder where they get the engineers and workers for these road construction projects.
