A joy I do not miss Stan. Although we do have "black ice" here.

Back from breakfast with Damon and Jen. Good to see them again, they are doing well.

Hola, Rob. You've been in that area a while. I bet you remember some pass play called in the superbowl that may be the bonehead call in all of football history. A team from your area was involved if that helps you recall.

@nevada72 Change from gnocchi dinner. We are having 'flat tacos' this evening. Since my family had not a scintilla of Mexican heritage my Dad made tacos as follows:

Dice onion and tomato. Cut iceberg lettuce into small slices. Slice black olives. Shred cheese. Cook a pound or so of hamburger in a skillet until done.

Get oil hot in a skillet. Put corn tortillas, not stacked, only as many as fit single layer in the skillet. Cook just long enough to make them pliable. Lay unfolded tortillas on plate.

Layer of lettuce, hamburger, onions, tomatoes, olives and shredded cheese. Add additional layers for portion.

Here's why I tagged ya. Remember the lack of Mexican thing? My Dad used ketchup, not hot sauce. It's the way I grew up eating them and still do to this day.

Yeh, I do recall something like that. Chicken Hawks I believe.

Great, I can feel the back pain setting in. I can expect 3-5 days of barely moving

And you tease me for putting ketchup on burgers??

Your dad sounds a lot like mine as far as cooking goes. I always enjoyed his take on meals. Tacos were much like those but without the effort of the tortilla frying. And Tabasco was the "hot sauce" of choice. Hamburgers were more like giant meatballs. They were anything but flat. And a bit overcooked. But it's those things, tastes and smells, that make for great memories. To this day the smell a stale cigar takes me back to being a ten year old, sitting in Dad's DNR green 66 Ford F100 (which he gave me when I turned 16 - wish I still had it), and making a dump run. It was great fun for me to rummage around all the "good stuff" people threw out. If the timing was right we would go to Lloyd's Diner (exactly what you would picture in your mind) and have a couple burgers, crinkle cut fries, and chocolate malt. I recall appreciating it then almost as much as I miss it now. Good times.
