Good morning all. It should be a quiet day. I think it will rain a little ahead of a "cold" front (by our standards).

The scrambles I play in on Tuesday or Thursday are pretty much the same fellas. A lot are retired snowbirds here for the winter. In the summer there are 6-8 teams of four but this time of year there can be as many as 12-14 teams. Each player is either an A,B,C or D rated player and teams contain one of each randomly selected. Generally speaking the odds of having 4 dishonest people on one team are not good so cheating is not as likely. The scores usually are in the -10 to -12 range.

On Sunday however you bring you team or if your, if you do not have a team they place you on a team. The team strategery is usually to have 3 good A players and one member old enough or crappy enough that he is allowed to hit from the gold tees. That is a considerable advantage on at least 4-5 holes if your gold player can drive straight. I hear rumors of cheating that goes on in the Sunday scrambles and it generally takes a -14 or so to win. There are better players on Sunday too. A team with a great female player has an advantage too with her being able to hit from the red tees. Another good team building strategery.

There is beer consumed by a few but nothing like the corporate type scrambles where people have to be carried out. Most do not even hang around for it to be over. If they win money they just get it next time they play. All in all the scrambles at our club are way more tame than the corporate type events I have played over the years. Like I said Tuesday and Thusdays are randomly selected teams. Sunday you pick your own team but if you win 2 weeks in a row they will break up the team. Ringers cannot just come and take the money every week. Oh yeah and there is not adult beverage cart with hot chicks to get everyone plowed.

Preferred over the "Minne" although either might apply.
