I've camped horseback in some remote mountains chasing elk. I had something I still can't explain happen in the San Juan Mountains, around 1998. I was base camped on the San Juan River and was going to climb higher and spike camp with my horse while I hunted. I had my horse and pack horse picketed next to my tent. I was right on the river. At 2am something woke me up. As I listened I heard it again. Something screaming. I'm in a wilderness, no town close by, no road close by. I've heard everything there is to hear in the mountains. Elk bugling, mountain lions screaming, bears grunting and squalling (in my camp, another story).
When I say scream I don't think you quite understand. It was like a bull elephant crossed with King Kong on steroids. The lung capacity was in no way shape or form human, or any other thing I've ever come across. It was pitch black dark, and I grabbed my .44 mag and flashlight and went out expecting my horses to have run off. They had backed up close to my tent and with ears perked, was watching or looking across the river in the pitch black. Across the river it went very steep up a mountainside, too steep to ride a horse. Whatever screamed was over there.
Everything was dead silent, and I heard nothing walking or moving around. When whatever this was screamed the second time.....not sure how to explain this...I could almost feel it, the vibrations. It was that loud. I checked the horses, took one last look at the blackness across the river, and went back to my tent and went to sleep. I have no explanation for what I heard.
Greg, saw that video, it's fake, saw it debunked somewhere, as most of them are.
