Did my bar manager thing this morning at the Post. We had a great day yesterday at the bar. $1 beer, $1 off mixed drinks, and $0.50 pop for all the Veterans. One of the best days I've seen in quite some time. And we had a helluva show of folks. Plenty of bean soup, chili, sandwiches, and a ton of sweets!
Got home and got energetic and raked more leaves. Pretty clean right now...will probably have to rake again tomorrow. Surprising what one maple tree can give me for leaves. But then that maple is great in the summer as it blocks the eastern sun in the morning! Hope you guys who have to don't stretch your back out too much! Sitting on a heat pad right now.....

That's getting close to home.
How much further NW did you come?
We rode up to Spanish Fort, over to Muenster then the band broke up.

Quite the historical area.
There was a creek that ran into the Red and I used to hunt for artifacts there on private land. Saw something about 18" deep coming out of the bank on a washout. When I dug around it quickly discovered it was a human skull. I left it alone and left the area. Pretty sure it was Indian, but I didn't dig further.
When they were in a hurry and one of their members had been killed they would bury their dead next to a bank and just push sand over them.

What an effortless and interesting ride. A 'motorcycle high'. Much of that due to my riding bud. Russ
Edit: wish I'd read Jack's post before I posted. We saw a mix of historic/nostalgic sites, places and so many yet to see.

Mick and I were cruising along this small, two-lane farm-to-market road and I see what looks like a buzzard up ahead on the center-line eating some road kill.
I’m riding in the left part of the lane, Mick is trailing, staggered about 4-5 bike lengths behind. Anyone that rides where buzzards live know that they’re pretty skittish and will take flight pretty early when approached. Well, this dude wasn’t moving. I got about 40-50 feet from this bird and he launches, right into my line.
I maneuvered to the right as quickly as possible but lucky for both of us, this wasn’t a buzzard. It was a big, strong, black Eagle. He used what looked like to be a 7 foot plus wingspan to move pretty quickly out of the way. Whew. He was a biggun.
