TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge part XIV.
Yesterday's activities
Slice sirloin tip roast
coarse grind, then medium grind with bacon
cook, then place on cookie pan in freezer so it will stay loose in a ziplock bag in the freezer (skip this step and you have a frozen chunk of hamburger in the bag).
Much better than store bought hamburger. Made two pans, about 5 lbs.
Followed by a pork loin. Don't have to clean up twice this way.
Half for ground pork, same procedure as the beef. Only one cookie pan. I'll make half of this into taco meat later, usually do this right after cooking it but I was feeling tired by then last night. Freeze half of that and bag and freeze the other half of the pan today.
Brown the pork loin slices
Heat water in the skillet, get all the pork brown stuff cleaned out and put in the Instant Pot with the slices, pressure cook for 45 minutes so it's fall apart tender. Does take most of the browning off the slices but doesn't seem to hurt the flavor. Save 4 slices for the next couple days lunch or dinner, rest 4 to a quart ziplock bag and frozen.
Makes fixing a lot of meals quicker with less mess later on.
