Hamburger Helper for Dinner
Buy a big pack of hamburger & the rest I make patties & freeze them
1st Snow was due Friday, now its going to be rain
I got an electric meat grinder last year and haven't bought hamburger since. When some kind of beef steak or roast is on sale at Sam's Club (sometimes just a few cents more than hamburger, and cheaper than grocery store hamburger) I'll get 5 to 10 lbs and grind it, much better flavor than store bought hamburger. I'll make a few patties occasionally, but most of it I fry, spread on a cookie sheet and freeze, and then crumble into zip lock bags for freezer storage. Couldn't do that if I only had a refrigerator, have two freezers in the garage. For even better hamburger, I'll grind a pound of bacon with it. Not cheap hamburger then, but it makes great cheeseburgers and chili. That works with pork and chicken, too.
I bought a sm freezer to put out on the 3 season porch
That way I can buy stuff on sale & freeze it
Good idea on the grinder, lots of times roasts etc are less $$ on sale
Hamburger prices went sky high, been buying it on sale
