Hate to switch gears on Selma but a friend messaged me and it looks like I might start making preparations to ride up to Jonesborough, TN either Wednesday or Thursday and debating whether I should attempt the 738 mile trip in one day.
I’m pretty excited about the prospect of this trip but there will be a bit chilly.
Most I've done on a bike was 700 give or take not many miles (on the odometer), took almost 10 hours, including one food stop and a few gas stops - over 90 the gas mileage dropped several mpg. Only time on a bike I've seen triple digits for several miles, have only done that in northern Nevada and northern Arizona, on nearly deserted two lane roads with almost nothing man made between fill ups. I didn't pass gas stations. Either one of them...
....
Either the guy did it the right way - kill yourself and then kill a bunch of unarmed people, or someone did it for him. That's an odd story to be sure.
That was my first thought, why would the guy go to all that trouble and then just off himself when he got there. Late working employee with a sidearm? If so, they did everyone a favor.
