Gotta go out a Saturday and evaluate some foreign military sales UH-1H aircraft. They were refurbished by Bell in 2010 but need some wiring done to them. “The guy” won’t be back from ID until then. Sounds like a few weeks long project. The location is the other side of the megalopolis which takes it out of the realm of a commute. No freaking way would I put that many miles on my vehicle commuting 2 hours each way, every day in traffic.
I commuted between Salt Lake City and Phoenix a few times on weekends, once during the week. When the next day was a also a work day, wasn't enough time to get near enough sleep. Was for sex, though. Not driving, though, DC9, sometimes in the cockpit. Liked that, had a nice view, lot quieter than in the back. Not sure about air miles, but when I drove it was a little bit over 700 miles on the bike. Of course on a bike I didn't take interstate all the way, speed limit was too slow. Those long empty two lanes in southern Utah, northern AZ, no traffic, no cops, what speed limit?
When I moved here commuting was high on the list for where to live, no hour or more commutes. Then winter came...
My grandfather walked down he street to work in the sock mill for something like 69 years. He lived in Ft Payne, Al.
A cold front is coming to town tomorrow. We will get the typical rain followed by coldness. It may get cold enough for the first fire in the fireplace of the season. It probably will warm right back up after a few days.
I made another batch of Turkey chili for the cool weather.
