TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge part XIV.
I don't know if I mentioned meeting a Korean War Vet (Navy) in the store a few days ago. We swap pleasantries, NRS#. There's a slight wait and he tells me about his Father and friend who took a year and rode motorcycles across the country in 1921. Sharp man.

I love talking to our vets, hearing their stories. Good on you for recognizing his stories and life.

Evening gents!
One of the things I miss most about our dearly departed. My Dad and some uncles were in WWII around the same time and I enjoyed hearing about their chance meetings far, far away. Especially considering they were all in different branches. My Dad was a badass boots on the ground Marine. My great uncle (Dad's uncle, but not much older) Fred was in the Air force as a bomber crew member, my Dad's brother (so uncle) was in the Navy. Other great uncles were in as well.
The age difference was mainly due to my old man stealing his brother's ID to enlist at the age of 15. No computers back then so my uncle enlisted as well and it didn't get caught for over a year. And once they did figure it out they simply changed their records and he continued as a Marine. Different world back then.
The old man was a stone cold killer as a teenager. Big, tough as oak, and mean all day long. He didn't soften much with age. Truly a different breed back then.

Thanks, Bob.
To me the TOAK is like sittin around a campfire at night call on a cool night, light weather jacket sipping whiskey and drinkin coffee. Is plaid too Page23?
