Found some of the money I spent at Costco. $250- worth of rib eyes in the deep freezer.
2 bags of prunes, Yes I love prunes.
2 three pound cans of coffee.
1 sixty pound bag of Dog food.
36 eggs
2 gallons of milk.
Still missing about $150- worth of items and the damn receipt is nowhere to be found.

Well TOAKs, I'm meeting my sister this afternoon to sign paperwork for cemetery plots. My parents bought four plots when we were very young. They rest in two, leaving the other two "open". Both my sister and I plan to be cremated, no need for plots. My brother had a stroke, is doing so-so, but wants to buried here. My wife wants to be buried, so we will take care of paperwork to make sure these wishes are done.
Second is I just sent an email out to our American Legion Riders Group. We have have very little, if any, attendance, participation, activities within this group. We are all getting older and some have some health issues, which prevent their participation. So I presented a "program" to members on record for the disbursement of financial account, and closing the Riders Group. We were, at one time, one of the largest groups in Michigan. We started shortly after Garden City Post began the ALR. I feel bad for this, but if no one attends, participates, or show interest, I feel we should retire our charter and close shop. I have been a member for 19 or 20 years, and this is a painful decision to make. I have one more meeting scheduled for those who wish, to state their thoughts and opinions, or offer to take over the reins and try to keep this going. So I have several sad thoughts today.
Sorry for the ramble. Thanks for reading.

I have seen a drop in participation in a number of organizations, fraternal and otherwise. Our VFW gets very few new members, at least I never see them when we are putting flags out on Memorial Day. Never been a member of the Legion but I can imagine that the membership rates are falling as well.

Yeah Russ, the Post is in same situation. Only a handful of members are "available" to do things around the Post. And dang few "new" or younger members. It is a shame. We see that here as well.

I love to talk to our older members, such a wealth of stories and experience. Too bad our younger generations think that they don’t have anything in common with them when in reality, they have much more than they think.

Good evening all. The work week is over, time for my long weekend. Normally this would be happy hour but I am driving down to see a band play. Maybe when I get back I will enjoy an adult beverage or two.
