Altitude is the key.

When I was bowhunting and making spike camps up high in the San Juan's I would grain my horses for 3 weeks or so before we left, and man were they full of **** and vinegar.

First day there riding steep terrain and altitude calmed them right down. It generally took a couple of days to acclimate to high altitude.

It was not unusual for my saddle hoss to lose 80 lbs in 12 days of elk hunting.

Horses go on the other side of the ridge Jack. It's a little wider. But it still has some steep parts. Saw some dirt bike tracks last time and was impressed. Too technical for my skillset. (not this part)

This side has some dicey drop offs and one 25 foot rock climb. My son scoping out his line.

Back home, wife got her first 75 miles in and it was like she was never off 2 wheels as a passenger, She was perfect on the back.
her only 3 complaints
1-to loud
2- needs floor boards not the tiny pegs
3 seat hurts her ***.

I can fix all three but #3 may take several hours

Touring seat from an ultra classic.
Some Black rifle coffee would be nice also.
The Black Rifle coffee I have. Daughter gave me a subscription for last Christmas. Mostly good, I've had a couple bags that were weaker than the others.

I spent most of a summer in Florida in '70, folks told me I talked funny, too. What surprised me most about Florida people then was how few actually were raised there, and how prejudiced against black folks they were (often called them something I won't repeat). If I'd been black I doubt I'd have wanted to do more than pass through the state. Somehow I didn't expect Florida to be so hard core Southern. I also made a bad motorcycling mistake there, rode across the old Tamiami Trail from just outside Miami to Naples after dark, probably killed more bugs in one night than the rest of my life combined. No wimpshield, either.

Don't forget to use lotion. They tend to chafe.

With government spending out of control I do hope Florida has removed you from their mailing list, Moldy.
