Depends on your goal. It gets you off I-94 which is kind of a shitty interstate in that it's not maintained very well and filled with ******** - just like everywhere. 18 is more laid back and farm scenic, but it's pretty beat up. After such a long ride (if you're doing it in one shot) I would just stick to I-94. It will save you about 30 minutes.

Hah - exact same helmet Cheryl has. Scorpion makes very good stuff for not a bunch of $$. I have a Scorpion ADV helmet and I like it better than my Shoei. Good choice.

Looking into what it takes to be a luthier. Doesn't seem to be a lot of formal training. More old school hands on
. Doing a lot of reading
