Halito Woods.... early evening pass thru. The Service Officer training was really intense. Way over my head. There are many things a Veteran can get, but it all takes work. And resources that I cannot provide. After numerous conversations with other more experienced Service Officers, I am just the starting point for helping our Vets. I am fortunate enough to have the state American Legion Headquarters 3 miles from my house, I met people there that I can go to and get more information. Plus, several Service Officers from around the state gave me their cards and insisted I contact them for questions and any help I need. This was a very daunting seminar and there is much for me to learn in order to help the Vet. I am intimidated and worried about this. Hoping I can get with these sources and gain more info and knowledge to help our Vets. AS a side note, one of the trainers said she had a phone call that a local (to the seminar training site) had a house fire and lost everything. Both mom and dad were Vets, three young children. By the time she got done telling us about this and what she had started, we were walking to the front and dropping of cash donations. All told our training group had donated $890 and the local Legion added another $1000 to that pot. Plus local motel were putting them up in rooms and others are helping. Damn near cried when they told us what we had just done!
So not to bore you further, i'll lurk for a bit, may be back tomorrow morning, then head to Jack Pine tomorrow morning. AND I got to take my lovely bride out for a nice dinner tonite for our 50th wedding anniversary. Which is today!
Hubby points there!!!

You can practice your newly found skill with John, he seems to be at an impasse with the VA. Congratulations on your 50th!

Have you talked to a Service Officer with the Legion or VFW? They should know how to help move things along.
