My frustration comes from many factors, but one is, around here, unless you're in narcotics, you don't mean ****. Which is fine, but at least treat me like my peers. But, nope... I get more hours to work for the same pay because I learned a skill.

Afternoon Woodsnitzes from Raton, NM

We left Grand Junction this morning to pound out some miles on I-70 before it became a parking lot and made great time to Avon, where Greg separated from Mick, Kristi and I. We went south on highway 24 to 50 and then to 69 before hooking up with I-25 for the run to Raton. There was a few showers and we got wet a couple of times but we dried off before the next shower and the hotel.

A very nice ride today along roads that we had not ridden before. We stopped for a sandwich in Westcliffe, CO in a nice Mennonite operated store. Very nice people and they make good food.

Today will be the last of the picture posts unless we run across something we haven’t seen before. Enjoy.

I liked where I worked less every year for several years. Decided to burn some savings and retire December first in 2008 to avoid that winter's commute, but Delta bought the airline and offered a great early out with benefits and severance pay I couldn't turn down. Had to work till the end of March to get it, drive through the worst of MN weather another winter, but financially was an offer it would have been dumb to turn down. Worked out great. Ironically, Delta was better to work for, but I was ready to go. Turned 62 three days before I did retire, so SS kicked in and I didn't have any months without income, and the early offer had bridge insurance till Medicare kicked in. I've had no regerts about doing that.

The trip was epic in its breadth and scope, Stan.
This was one where the journey was the destination and it was awesome.

Corporate had a real dislike for me because I was somewhat creative in procurement of materials. Yet I was always the one who they came to for emergency purchases or long lead items that would hold up production.
As much as they disliked me and my methods (which, by the way, were all completely legal and above board) I enjoyed listening to son and other workers at the plant wish I was still there!!
