I am too and that's the only reason we can afford our property taxes. They're getting so high we're taking new steps to make up the difference. I didn't buy a half million dollar property, but I'm not kidding, I'm being taxed like I did.

I voted no on the new budget measures that would be a benefit to the community because people are losing their homes from the taxes alone. We can't afford more tax right now. Wife and I are going to cancel out Disney Plus membership. That might help.
Yep. Looking at your property value Chris, indicates they are maxing out that 10% raise every year. A little surprised to find that you haven’t claimed your military disability rating, it can save you a few thousand off the assessed value annually. All you have to do is print off a letter from the VA and march down to the assessor’s office to file it.

Good to know Jeff. Thanks for the update. Weather down there sure does get scary. Glad you're unscathed.

Isn't Texas one that you don't pay property taxes at 100% disability? I know Florida, Texas, and Alabama are. One of the reasons getting individual unemployability through the VA is so important

I'm in the process of a disability claim. My current rating is not high enough to get the tax exemption. Hopefully after this next claim goes through it will be. The only thing I have is homestead, but that's only a benefit if I get sued, which I have. That was a non-issue, the department covered me in the suit.

I'm not counting chickens yet, but I'm on the way, if you let my psychiatrist tell the tale.

I dunno Chris, the state offers relief from 10-100%.

Your county makes the determination whether or not you can combine homestead with your VA disability.

Should we be worried that you are armed?
