A little late to the party
But It was the ole lady’s idea, not mine, but I’m on board with getting a third dog. Well a 1/4 dog. So Mary is having second and third thoughts about not going full Monty on this one.
She is mainly concerned about crating for 6 hours almost daily. And dealing with yet another puppy and their needs. So this is where it’s at.
I figure if it doesn’t work out resell him. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
Cmon TOAK ! Where’s this knowledge we all know and love?!?!

yup. Hence the discussion. I’m trying to weigh in on the decision but it’s her money and ultimately her choice. No one wants to get up every two hours sometimes, but that’s the deal. As far as I see it. And 6 hour crating is a way of life for millions of dogs, cats what have you. It’s not fair. But I for one would give it a better home than what I’ve seen around

A dog is a commitment, not a toy. Crating a dog is perfectly fine if they're trained properly. My dogs are out of we're around but during the day they are sometimes in a crate. The crates are always open to them and my dogs tend to sleep in them during the day with the doors left open. They don't hate them.

My advice is simple; if one can't take care of a dog, one shouldn't take on the commitment. Dogs needs training, play, exercise, training.

We have three and it sucks sometimes. Dogs don't need other dogs for fun and company. They have us for that. Most dogs prefer to be solo in a home, but they do get attached to other dogs in the home.

That's all I've got. Oh, amd wear sensible shoes.

I think she is realizing the commitment aspect and looking at it overwhelmingly. When It’s more a responsibility she doesn’t really want.
