Gonna be on the Springer this weekend. The SG is going on the lift and I'm pulling the front end out. GP cartridges going in. I have a new HD tech I trust going over everything and rebuilding them to make sure they're good to go. He's an HD tech that is also an indie. Cool combo, costs less, and he profits 100%. It's a win-win.

I have a guy like that. But I’m not certain of his creds

My Indy knows more about Harleys than anyone at the stealership. They won't even touch a bike with a carb

I am. He works at the local dealer. He flashed my ECM and deleted my ignition for free 99. I tried to pay him but he wouldn't take it.

This guy has worked on my friends bikes and I've seen his work. He is knowledgeable and best of all, willing to do it on the side out of his home garage for pennies on the dollar. I wouldn't trust the dealer to install these cartridges. Even the guys that sold them told me to do it myself or find an indie. Said most of the failures have been the dealers installing them wrong.

I have a guy like that too and he is one of my lifelong best friends. . We actually worked together through the 80's and some of the 90's. . Then he decided to go to school to be a Harley technician. He graduated and worked at a dealership for 12 years before burning out on it. He now works elsewhere. He does not do indie work per se but he is going to help me out this weekend with an issue on the wife's Deluxe. Nothing major. It is good to have an expert to consult.

He helped me back in the day when I tore down my 86 FXR and did a whole makeover. It took a lot of Sundays.

I took a page from the Old School Manual and "borrowed" an exhaust flange nut from the Springer to use on the SG when I lost one last month. I have yet to replace it. I'll need a new one. They don't look to be expensive. The size I found was 5/16"-24 with the flange. I'll go to the hardware store in a bit and find one.

Nicole may be worse than Ian for our location. Still headed right over our house. I think the path will move further east soon. At least I hope it does.

Hopefully it does. That's stressful to have to watch. Do you have a backup plan if it doesn't redirect?

Thanks. It's a scary 1.5 mile drive in a police car to get there.
