TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge part XIV.
Hey, Mick.
I was as shocked to see you actually spoke to your congresswoman. Pleasantly. I hope she answered your concerns forthrightly without a bunch of political BS.
All I've ever received is a form letter.

She listened, responded directly and appears to share my view regarding the reason I sent the email, Greg.
Edit: My closing line in my email was along this line...don't bother responding with a form letter.

It would. As one who I have enjoyed fellowship with, has qualities I admire and always want it to remain so i hope my analogy is taken in its intended spirit.
You now know why all your life you've heard 'my relative who was in combat during (conflict) never said much about it'. To bring it closer to the commonality we share, we all share the experience of motorcycle riding with one another; usually not with those who don't ride.

We have our Memorial Day Parade this Monday. I am in charge of our Honor Guard. We end at our Veterans Memorial. There are the speeches, laying of the wreaths, and the memories shared. We fire rifles and the local High School Band plays several patriotic songs. Then they will have two trumpet players play the Echo Taps. I tear up every year we do this. Even though our country is in poor shape today, we still would not be what we are without the Veterans who laid everything on the line for the United States.
Sorry for the rant. This is a special day for me.

My Dad was a combat vet and he never really talked much about it. By the time he would, he was so tanked that it didn't make much sense. Over the years I was able to piece together consistencies and his remorse for killing stuck with him to his grave.

Yeah, except for the headlights and it had continental tires. I think it had bigger wheels, too. Good looking trucks.
