It’s probably a good thing I didn’t buy that 65. Could you imagine riding on some back road somewhere and having an issue you couldn’t repair ( even something as small as a flat or broken chain) and having to leave it in the middle of nowhere 😳, If you didn’t have it insured for a ton it would make you sick thinking about it

Most of you already know this...

...On this day in history, April 18, 1934, the first "washateria" opened in Fort Worth, Texas, it is presumed, as created by a man named C.A. Tannahill...

At that level there's a lot to watch out for to make sure it's a sound investment. I figure I'm good to find a bike up to the 20 grand range because I'll have a pretty good idea what's what. But once you get into a high dollar correct machine, I would pay someone to evaluate it. There's so much that can be missed. Just the shape of the damn 6 in the serial number can be the difference between a $35K bike and a $15K bike.

Someone had a decent 55 Pan with Delkron cases for 12 grand in California. I was tempted, but I just need to get a bit more settled here before delving into a project like that.

As far as break downs - that's all part of the vintage experience. I always have a means to fetch it should that happen. Cheryl has gotten very good at throwing the ramps in the truck and coming to get me.
