Chris, glad to hear I still have a chance to meet you someday. Sorry to hear about the injuries. Now you'll have a chance to build the next bike better.

....
When I lived in Arizona I got a piece of rebar through the rear tire sidewall, ripped it and the tube 4 or 5". Half the damned tire went off one side of the rim, half the other, so every revolution it ran over its own tire twice, back end hopped like a rabbit and swung sideways each second jump. I knew on the 3rd round it was going too far to recover, leaned over the bars and nailed the front brake as it went straight and somehow held it there till it stopped. Back was high enough to slam down real hard. Around 60mph on a first gen Honda 750, a front end top heavy bike and that might have saved me. Lucky it was late at night and no traffic on a 3 lane interstate through Phoenix, could have been bad with any traffic. After that I got a set of Goodyear run flats, surprisingly good handling tires, and used those on my next big bike too, after which they quit making them. Only flat I've had on a bike, they're bad news on either position.

The craziest thing I have ever seen lost on the road is a riding lawn mower on the I-695 Beltway around Baltimore. How does a person not know they lose a riding mower out the back of their truck?
Maybe after hitting pavement at 60 or more they didn't want it anymore.

Seemed like a long day. Started with taking Carol to Costco, she won't go to stores by herself anymore. You know those ancient bent over ladies you pass in stores? They pass her.

Then dinner at Daughter Audrey''s, hard to hear people speak with that many kids. Made some delicious shredded beef for barbecue and a chocolate cake that probably put me over a healthy carb and sugar limit for the week, but it was a pleasure to eat. I like talking with her husband, not much we don't agree on.

Driving into Boston rush hour traffic was worse then usual
Finally see 2 beds from pickup trucks that fell off & blocking 2 lanes & people are simply squeezing around -Fast lane & break down lane
I pull to a stop in the break down lane & get out (you wanna talk about pissing people off lol)
Another guy stops beside me in the 1st lane blocking that lane (already blocked by the beds)
3rd guy stops in front of the other bed so we do not get hit
Drag the beds into the break down lane & all get back in & drive off
They must have been on an 18 wheeler & fell off
But it took maybe 15 minutes to drag them to the side

Chris, your story is a reminder that no matter what we think we've planned for, there's always something out there to take you down
