TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge part XIV.
With age comes wisdom Chris. And wisdom defined is having learned lessons the hard way. Which I have done in spades.
And if I'm being honest, I signed up for this. I knew the houses were closer together than I prefer. But that's the way it is here if you want a newer home. Unless you have 1.5 million to spend, which I didn't. I also knew the playset was there. I tried hard to (literally) look the other way, but it is like a guard tower along my fence. And the kids are not shy about hanging out and eyeballing us not only on the back patio, but even in our living room through the windows. They also taunt Casper when he's out ack. Nothing malicious but we hear "Caspah! Come here Caspah!" all the time and then when he's out front, the kid runs away screaming because she's afraid of dogs. until now I just took the "Let kids be kids" stance. Right until their parents messed with us on St Paddy's at 10:05 PM.

Those kids calling your dog and taunting him, that's a huge no-go for me. Casper doesn't know the difference and they would have been better off to keep their nosey little mouths shut. But it seems the parents have bred that into them. They seem like Karens in training. But yes, let kids be kids. Still, they need to learn and there's no time like the present.
I'm thinking if something comes down the pipe the playground will be moved to the other side, but you'll have a long term awkward relationship with them from that point on. That's my biggest concern.
I get the trailer deal, but that's still nitpicky as hell since you'd taken the time to hide it and it was temporary. HOAs are designed in a good faith effort to maintain property value, which I'll admit is very important. I just have a hard time with people poking their nose over my fence and calling me out on something. My home is the one place I can relax. Out in public, I'm on guard and it gets exhausting.

I'm fairly certain that's what I said lol.
I was chatting with a co-worker yesterday. She'd asked me about my up and coming photography business. I told her that TLT had volunteered to be Emily's softball coach and I was helping out where I could. I offered to take photos of all the girls and a team photo as well and email all the parents the large file so they could print them as large as they wanted, and I'd do this for free, undercutting the other photographer that charges $60 a shot. I had offered her portraits of her and her family in the past because she was spending $250 on a session for photos that were not worth that much. They were too bright, over exposed, and detail was lost. Her selfies looked better, so I had offered.
My response was, without thinking, "I will still take pictures of you." Stupid way to say the portrait session was still an offer I intended to keep. Sometimes I forget to think before I speak and that almost always goes bad for me. So yes, I can creepy and can't always help it.

Lurking. Veggies taking over the indoor motorcycle parking. Snow melting. Lot of rain last night helped with the snow removal, another foot and I should see some grass patches. Greenhouse due this week, another motorcycle tool due today. Still waiting for my tax refunds. I'd buy a new pickup with them if they were 50 times bigger...

She's been moved to the rehab facility as of yesterday. I have not spoken to her today. I tell her she sounds great, but the truth it, I can hear it in her voice; she's exhausted and her body is badly damaged. I think she will recover, but I fear it won't be a complete recovery.
TLT and I have discussed options if they choose to move closer to us. They've been talking about it for years and this might be the catalyst that forces them to move. We'll help however we need to.

We have a hoa in our neighborhood. I'm one of the few originals left in the neighborhood. Out of 70 houses, I think there are only about 8-10 of us left. So far, for the past 37-38 years, they have not been bad to work with. I did have a lein placed against us.... been there since 2001. We were completely unaware of it. Taking care of wills, power of attorney, setting the kids up, etc and we found out about it this year. Pisses me off they don't send notifications out, but it's cleared and we are ok now with that. Otherwise they have left us alone.
Hoping things work well with your mom Chris. It's tough to watch when they get to this point in their life. Thoughts and prayers for her.
