TOAK, The Thread of All Knowledge part XIV.
Well this was embarrassing. We had a memorial service today for a Veteran. It was held in a community center local to us. We arrived, discussed a plan. I was led to believe they would start the remembrance, say a few things, then we would fire rifles and play taps. Well the son started the service, then invited people to stand and give stories about his father. We stood at the back of the facility, with our winter jackets and gear. After 45 minutes of people telling stories, I had the unfortunate episode of passing out. I stood at a sliding door with the sun beating on my back. Had winter gear on, and I guess I just got too damned hot and passed out. I felt so embarrassed that this happened. Stopped the service, and was surprised how quickly several people got me up, in a seat, and a small glass of water. They gave me a few minutes and asked if I was ok. We did finish our service. I presented the fired brass and the folded flag to the widow. I apologize profusely. She said she understood. I felt so embarrassed and ashamed. I always want to do the family a great service. And do not wish to embarrass our Post. I apologized to my team, and they all told me to shut up and that they were concerned about me and not embarrassing anyone. I have a great team.
Sorry to vent here, but I feel so bad over this. Thank you for listening.
And if you look at my signature, I'm not looking for sympathy!

Hi Folks. Home again, check up went well. Above average for a 63 yr old that had some hard and fast years.
Denny, don't sweat the small stuff my friend. What's important is the team did pay respects to a fallen comrade, and that's what shall be remembered.

Denny, thanks for being out there and paying respects to our veterans. Anything else that happens is inconsequential. Please don’t doubt yourself.
Denny, just be thankful that no one ever captured yourself and two others trying to figure out how to strap beer down to the bike.

Mick, the morning of our foggy ride in west Texas, we could not see this sign which was right before we stopped for a break.
