No wire for this trip, just changing out some cameras and adjusting the weight and balance of the aircraft. This continues my 10 year streak of watching the Super Bowl from a foreign country.
I meant safety wire for the fasteners. Isn't that what the holes are for?
Sorry to hear Jeff. Was it making bad knocking / grinding noises when it let loose ? Anything to make you think this is the end?
It only has 122K miles on the V6 Vortec even though it is a 2000. I have taken great care of it and only drove it about 5K a year. It started to rattle and run rough. I let off and smoothed out. I picked up the throttle again and it started rattling again and then started to lose power. It died and I limped off onto the shoulder. I lost all accessory power too and it was hard to turn and I had to stomp the brake to stop her. Lot of smoke and steam. It smelled like a tire fire. I actually called the FD but by the time they arrived there was no more smoke/steam. She is still a beauty and I will fix her up even if it means a new engine.
I had a 99 Astro van. I bought it as a retired service van and it had been rode hard and put up wet - my bad. The engine light went on very shortly after buying it and it signified a $1600 hole in my wallet for a new transmission. Other than that it wasn't a bad vehicle. I didn't keep it very long. Traded up to a Yukon XL.
